Deputy Commissioner Uma Prakash from GHMC Goshamahal Circle-14 emphasized the importance of obtaining a trade license for all businesses. He warned that legal action would be taken against those operating without one. Following instructions from the GHMC Commissioner, a trade license verification drive was conducted in the Goshamahal Circle. During this drive, officials inspected trade licenses and property tax documents at various shopping complexes, malls, including RK Plaza and Big Bazaar. Shops operating without a trade license were seized.
GHMC officials, along with their staff, seized several shops, prompting business owners from 16 shops to pay a total of ₹3.5 lakh in dues. Trade licenses were issued to several shops during this operation.
Uma Prakash urged businesses within the GHMC limits to mandatorily acquire trade licenses and regularly pay property taxes. He cautioned that anyone failing to pay property tax on time or operating without a trade license would face legal consequences. More than 25 shops were seized for ignoring notices and failing to respond regarding pending dues. In Ajeej Plaza, business owners owe ₹57.60 lakh in property tax. Special drives were also executed in Kushal Complex and Big Bazaar.
Prakash encouraged immediate payment of overdue property taxes to avoid penalties, stressing the importance of these funds for city development. She warned that failure to comply would lead to further actions. AMCs, GHMC staff, and others participated in this initiative.
