Hyderabad is actively addressing road damage caused by recent rains. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated a campaign to fix the potholes that have created challenges for drivers. Out of 13,120 potholes identified, they have already filled over 10,000, with ongoing efforts to complete the repairs during the festive period.
In response to the road safety issues from heavy rainfall, GHMC has repaired 10,390 potholes across Greater Hyderabad. They have also completed 522 catch pit repairs, replaced 301 catch pit covers, and finished eight central median repair works. GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan has instructed teams to accelerate the repairs to ease commuter inconvenience. The focus is on both main roads and inner roads, including the national highway within city limits, to improve traffic flow.
GHMC has deployed divisional teams to hasten the repair process, utilizing a combination of asphalt and concrete. In the L B Nagar zone, 2,381 out of 2,868 potholes have been fixed. In Charminar, 1,826 out of 2,227 potholes have been repaired. Khairtabad saw 1,343 out of 1,721 potholes addressed, while Serilingampally repaired 1,290 out of 1,938. Likewise, in the Kukatpally Zone, 1,706 potholes have been filled out of 1,941, and in the Secunderabad Zone, 1,844 out of 2,425 potholes have been repaired.
