Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) initiated the ward delimitation process on Tuesday following the integration of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) into its jurisdiction. The Telangana Gazette officially notified the merger on December 9, 2025.

A special Corporation meeting convened to present the preliminary notification under Form-I. GHMC officials invited members to submit their suggestions and objections regarding the delimitation process.

The merger consolidates multiple areas under a unified municipal framework. This restructuring aims to streamline civic services and enable coordinated infrastructure planning across the expanded city limits.

Municipal officials emphasized that the expansion would facilitate uniform development throughout the extended boundaries. Better service delivery across all areas remains a primary objective of this administrative reorganization.

Each corporator and ex-officio member received two minutes to present their views during the session. Commissioner Karnan and his administrative team documented all feedback provided by the members.

“All suggestions, objections, and complaints raised by the Honourable Members will not only be recorded but also submitted to the government for further consideration,” stated a GHMC official.

Deputy Mayor Srilatha and Commissioner Karnan attended the session alongside corporators, officers, and media representatives. The presiding officials emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum and encouraged constructive participation from all members.

Commissioner Karnan provided a detailed briefing on the delimitation process to the House. He outlined the criteria and methodologies that would guide the redrawing of ward boundaries based on the expanded municipal map.

The delimitation exercise represents a significant administrative undertaking for the municipal corporation. The process will determine the new ward structure that reflects the enlarged geographical area under GHMC’s governance.

The integration of 27 ULBs marks a substantial expansion of the municipal corporation’s operational area. This consolidation brings diverse neighborhoods and communities under a single administrative umbrella.

Officials collected feedback from members to ensure the delimitation process considers ground realities and local requirements. The recorded suggestions will form part of the submission to the state government for review and approval.

The ward restructuring will impact electoral boundaries and representation within the municipal corporation. The new demarcation aims to ensure equitable distribution of civic resources and administrative attention across all areas.

The meeting concluded with officials reiterating their commitment to a transparent and inclusive delimitation process. All stakeholder inputs will be compiled and forwarded to higher authorities as part of the formal procedure.
