Hyderabad – The Justice P.C. Ghose Commission, which is investigating the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, is unlikely to call former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao or former ministers T. Harish Rao and E. Rajendar for questioning.
Initially, there were plans to summon these former leaders for clarification. The commission wanted to understand their involvement in approving the project designs, construction quality, and the management of the Medigadda, Sundilla, and Annaram barrages, which have suffered damage.
However, sources say Justice Ghose has already collected enough evidence and documents from irrigation department officials and technical experts during public hearings. The available information seems to clearly show the roles played by KCR and Harish Rao, making further questioning unnecessary at this point.
The investigation is nearly complete. The commission is now preparing its final report.
It has also examined detailed reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Vigilance Department, and National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). These findings will be included in the final report, which is expected to be submitted to the government by the end of May.
The commission’s report is likely to include strong observations and recommendations based on the evidence gathered.
