Hyderabad is set to see new sports developments. Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari announced that GMR and Dubai Sports City plan to build a satellite Sports City, investing Rs.1,000 crores. India Xtreme Adventure Pvt. Ltd will invest Rs.500 crores in adventure sports. Meanwhile, Supercross India Pvt. LTD aims to create a motor racing arena with Rs.75 crores. These plans were agreed upon during the Telangana Rising Global Summit at Future City.
Earlier, Vakiti Srihari joined an Olympic Gold Quest panel with former cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin and athletes like PV Sindhu, Gutta Jwala, Gopichand, Ambati Rayudu, and Anil Kumble. Srihari highlighted that players should treat the game as sacred, as the nation relies on them. He praised the state’s sports policy.
PV Sindhu emphasized that winning requires good infrastructure and coaching. Azharuddin noted that Telangana has produced stars like Sania Mirza and Nikhath Zareen, often nurtured at Gopichand Academy. He stressed the importance of playgrounds for sports development.
The government is also promoting football. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Gutta Jwala have earned recognition as top athletes. Azharuddin suggested ensuring players do not face financial issues. He remarked that while coaches were scarce in the past, this is no longer a problem.
