Gold worth Rs 56.63 lakhs confiscated at RGIA in Hyderabad

Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad arrested a passenger and an airport staff member on Thursday. They were caught smuggling 933 grams of gold worth Rs 56.63 lakhs. The officials arrested the accused based on profiling.

The passenger had arrived at the Hyderabad airport from Dubai on Monday. Gold was found in his luggage. Upon questioning, it was discovered that the gold was intended to be smuggled out with the help of an airport staff member.

The seized gold was confiscated under the provisions of section 110 of the Customs Act. The passenger was detained under section 104 of the Customs Act. The airport staff member was also arrested. The investigation is still ongoing.
