The State government in Mahbubnagar is working to empower the poor and uplift women through self-employment schemes. Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud emphasized this during a program at the Hanwada Mandal Parishad office. He distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques to 84 beneficiaries, totaling Rs84,93,744. Afterward, the Minister had a meal with the beneficiaries and their families.

Before the formation of Telangana, there was no Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. Families would have to take loans or sell their assets to marry off their daughters. Recognizing this issue, Chief Minister KCR introduced the Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, providing financial assistance of Rs 1,1,116 to beneficiaries.
