Hyderabad: The state government is focused on improving the lives of women, according to Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Seethakka. On Wednesday, these ministers, along with GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLA Danam Nagender, and GHMC Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha, opened the new Mahila Bhavan in NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills. This center was built for Rs 93.50 lakh.
A foundation stone for a new Anganwadi building, costing Rs 29.8 lakh, was also placed.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar highlighted that past promises are now turning into actions across Hyderabad. The opening of this women’s center is proof of this commitment.
He announced new ration cards, 200 free electricity units, rice distribution for the needy through Indiramma Houses, free bus travel, and zero-interest loans for women’s groups.
Minister Seethakka stressed the government’s efforts to empower women through multiple welfare and development programs. She mentioned initiatives to encourage women’s self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi shared that the Mahila Bhavan fulfills a 15-year dream for the local community. She noted the efforts to overcome legal issues during its construction. The center will host programs, training, and meetings for women.
GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, and others attended the event.
