Gadwal: The state government of Telangana, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is dedicated to supporting the poor, according to State Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
On Saturday, new Double Bedroom Indiramma Houses were opened at Doudarpalli near Gadwal town. The event was attended by Ministers Jupalli Krishna Rao, Vakiti Srihari, MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, and District Collector B.M. Santosh. They also held house-warming ceremonies for the new homeowners.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy addressed a large crowd, highlighting the government’s efforts to help weaker sections. Unlike previous administrations, this government is actively providing housing for the poor. He revealed that each constituency will receive 3,500 Indiramma houses, with each house funded with ₹5 lakh, benefiting 4.5 lakh families statewide.
He also mentioned other welfare programs, including ₹9 crore for DWCRA women’s groups for housing, free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, a ₹500 gas subsidy, and the provision of fine rice. The government has spent ₹21,000 crore on farmer loan waivers and offers a ₹500 bonus on paddy, along with ongoing Rythu Bharosa support. To resolve land issues, Bhoobharti has been introduced, with a GPO for each revenue village and 20 licensed surveyors in every mandal.
Excise & Tourism Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao praised the Chief Minister and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s dedication to ensuring each poor family receives a home. He recalled former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s bank nationalization, which facilitated easier loans for farmers and women’s groups.
Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Youth Services Minister Vakiti Srihari stated that no houses were built for the poor in the last decade, but the current government has approved 3,500 homes per constituency. He announced a ₹22,500 crore investment to set up integrated schools in every mandal headquarters, ensuring universal education. He confirmed the effective implementation of six guarantee schemes and promised opportunities for women, like operating petrol bunks, to promote economic independence.
District Collector B.M. Santosh reported that 560 houses were finished in the first phase at ₹75 crore, and 715 in the second phase. A school, community hall, and a nearby medical and nursing college were also built in the housing area.
MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy thanked the Chief Minister and ministers, celebrating the realization of the poor’s dream of homeownership. He urged ministers to revisit the issue of banks offsetting the government’s initial ₹1 lakh deposit against beneficiary loans. He warned beneficiaries against renting or selling their homes, as it would lead to the cancellation of their allotment.
The ministers received a warm welcome with traditional honors. They joined the beneficiaries for a community lunch. A ₹9 crore cheque was presented to women’s groups under the Indiramma Housing scheme, and ownership documents were distributed.
The event was attended by District Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsinga Rao, Housing PD Srinivas Rao, RDO Alivelu, Market Committee Chairman Nalla Hanumantu, Library Corporation Chairman Neeli Srinivasulu, officials, public representatives, and many locals.
