Hyderabad: Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, the State Revenue Minister, has announced financial support of Rs 1 crore for each district affected by heavy rainfall. He instructed officials to oversee relief efforts in these flood-hit areas.
The India Meteorological Department predicts more heavy rain across the state in the next few days. In response, the Minister held a video call with District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, and Police Commissioners. He advised them to stay vigilant and take actions to protect lives and property. Officials reported unexpected heavy rainfall in some areas and assured the Minister of taking necessary steps based on weather forecasts.
The allocated Rs 1 crore is dedicated to relief initiatives in the affected districts. Senior officers are designated as Special Officers in all 10 districts to supervise these efforts.
Reddy has ordered the cancellation of leave for officers and staff, requiring them to assist with the relief work. He emphasized the need for the Municipal, Metro Water Board, and Police traffic departments to collaborate, ensuring minimal disruption for residents.
Srinivasa Reddy highlighted the importance of safeguarding railway tracks, low bridges, and low-lying areas to prevent waterlogging. Police presence is crucial near low-level bridges. He also urged measures to prevent infectious diseases and ensure clean drinking water.
