The Central government is planning to add more advanced skill development training courses to industrial training institutes (ITIs) to meet global demand and increase employment opportunities for students. Currently, Telangana offers 39 out of the 196 trades available in government ITIs nationwide. With the addition of the new courses, the number of trades in the state may increase to 45. Telangana has 65 government ITIs, including eight in Hyderabad, along with 255 private ITIs, with 30 in the State capital.

However, there is a lack of awareness and counseling centers in local areas like the Old City, leading to a high number of vacant seats in government ITIs. For example, the government ITI near the Zoo Park in the Old City has a capacity of 456 seats, with only 226 filled and 230 vacant. This number may increase by 145 after the introduction of the new courses.
