Hyderabad: The Indian government has named Bhaskar Reddy Vemireddy, a senior advocate from the Telangana High Court, as a Judicial Member of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
This decision is part of efforts to fully operationalize the GST Appellate Tribunal. The government has approved the appointment of 53 Judicial Members, which is a crucial step in improving the GST dispute resolution system.
Vemireddy Bhaskar Reddy has been a senior advocate at the Telangana High Court. He started his law career in 1987 and has focused on tax law since then. In 1993, he served as a Special Assistant Government Pleader for taxes until June 1994. The Telangana High Court recognized him as a Senior Advocate in 2022.
Developing a strong GST appellate system aims to shorten litigation times and build confidence in the indirect tax system.
