The Telangana government will give fitness certificates to vehicles from educational institutions that promote road safety awareness in schools and colleges.

As the academic year begins, vehicles are queuing up at RTA offices. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who held a review meeting on Tuesday, instructed officials to only issue fitness certificates if schools and colleges have special programs to raise awareness about road safety.

Officials were told to inspect every school bus to ensure they are safe for the road. The transport department officials also suggested holding road safety awareness meetings with influential people in each district for a week.
