A government official in Hyderabad has been suspended after corruption allegations reached the Telangana High Court. The Stamps and Registrations Department took action against Smt. Srilatha, who worked as Sub-Registrar at Saroor Nagar in Ranga Reddy district.
Srilatha faced serious charges of demanding bribes from people trying to register their properties. She was managing duties at Saroor Nagar while her main position was in Medak district.
A local resident named Sudarshan from Chanchalguda brought the corruption case to court. He claimed that Srilatha asked for a large amount of money before she would process his property registration.
Sudarshan first tried to file a police complaint about the bribery demand. However, police refused to register an FIR against the official. This forced him to take his case directly to the High Court.
During court proceedings, Sudarshan revealed that Srilatha had completed two previous property registrations only after receiving payments from other customers.
The Telangana High Court took strong action after hearing the evidence. Judges ordered investigations into both sides of the alleged bribery case.
The court directed police to file charges against Sudarshan for admitting he offered bribes. At the same time, judges ordered the Stamps and Registrations Department to investigate their employee thoroughly.
Following court instructions, the Ranga Reddy District Registrar conducted a detailed internal review. Officials submitted their investigation findings to higher authorities in the department.
The Stamps and Registrations Department reviewed the investigation report and decided to suspend Srilatha immediately. She will remain suspended while the department completes additional disciplinary proceedings.
This case highlights ongoing corruption issues in government offices that handle property transactions. The court’s dual approach of investigating both the bribe giver and receiver sends a strong message about accountability.
