The ruling Congress party in Hyderabad has decided to bring back the concept of ‘Grama Sabhas’ to identify eligible beneficiaries for their schemes. The drive will begin on December 28, which is the party’s foundation day. The Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, and the AICC (TS) incharge, Manikrao Thakre, attended a PAC meeting on Monday to discuss the strategy for ensuring that the schemes reach those who truly need them. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of involving local party leaders in this process, regardless of whether they are MLAs or contestants who have lost elections. The District incharges will also play a role in implementing the schemes.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the schemes, the committee has decided to revive the concept of ‘Grama Sabhas’, which was used by the previous Congress government in unified Andhra Pradesh. The party will call for applications from eligible individuals, and the schemes will be implemented without any discrimination, similar to how it was done during the previous Congress government. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, the PAC convenor, mentioned that the party was able to achieve saturation level in implementing these schemes back then.
