Health Department in Crisis: Employees Demand Action

The Telangana Health Department is facing serious problems, with employees frustrated over corruption, poor management, and a lack of leadership. Many workers are struggling to get even basic administrative approvals due to inefficiency and bribery.

One of the biggest concerns is that the Director of Public Health (DPH) position has been vacant for ten years. Although a new Director of Medical Education (DME) was recently appointed, the government has not filled the DPH post, making it difficult for the department to function properly. Employees had hoped that the new Congress-led government would solve these issues, but instead, the situation has worsened. Many medical staff members feel that their complaints are being ignored.

Corruption is another major issue. Employees, especially nurses and paramedical staff, claim they are being forced to pay bribes for transfers, promotions, and even simple administrative requests. The current DPH has been accused of demanding money to process personnel matters. In one shocking case, a nurse who needed a transfer to care for her mentally ill son was reportedly asked for a bribe. When she couldn’t pay, her request was denied.

This unfair system has created anger among employees. Those who can afford to pay bribes get their requests approved quickly, while others are left waiting indefinitely. Even when the Health Minister’s office has stepped in to help, no real action has been taken.

Now, employees are urging Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodara Raja Narsimha to take immediate action. They want a permanent DPH to be appointed, corrupt officials to be held accountable, and honesty to be restored in the department. If these issues are not addressed soon, employees warn that the entire health department could collapse due to corruption and inefficiency.
