Hyderabad: BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao have criticized the BJP government after a bridge over the Mahisagar River in Gujarat collapsed. They called this event “another example of the Double Engine Gujarat Model.”
The BRS leaders took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their concerns. Rama Rao commented, “Another day, another example of the Double Engine Gujarat model. It’s like a scene from Final Destination. One moment you’re on the bridge, the next in the river. After the Morbi tragedy, where over 140 people died, this is another shock. I hope the NDSA or bridge safety agencies will look into these incidents in Gujarat, Bihar, and MP. Speedy recovery to the injured.”
Offering condolences, Harish Rao called the incident unfortunate. He pointed out that bridge collapses are common in BJP-NDA ruled states like Bihar and Gujarat, yet there are no investigations or actions taken. He compared it to Medigadda, where even minor issues prompt quick political reports from the NDSA.
He further mentioned that in Andhra Pradesh, even significant infrastructure issues like the Polavaram project, overseen by the central government and NDSA, face no inquiry when problems arise.
Harish Rao criticized the BJP’s lack of action on issues within the Revanth Reddy government, such as the collapsed SLBC, Sunkishala, and other infrastructure failures. He pointed out that the NDSA does not respond, demonstrating the BJP’s double standards.
In states governed by BJP or its allies, one policy is followed, while different approaches are applied in states that challenge the BJP. Harish Rao described this as the BJP’s strategy of using accidents for political advantage.
