Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court single bench, led by Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar, criticized the Rachakonda police for interfering in civil matters. The issue involved settling disputes at the Nagole police station for a reported sum of Rs. 55 lakh.

The judge was surprised when Pamu Sudershanam’s lawyer revealed that Sudershanam was held at the station from morning till evening on June 19. The court was shocked by this and called for Sudheer Babu, the Rachakonda Commissioner, and the Nagole SHO to explain why a criminal case was filed against Sudershanam in a civil matter pending since 2000. Babu appeared via video conference, while the SHO appeared in person.

Justice Vinod Kumar criticized the police for their involvement in a civil dispute regarding a private property at plot 65, Krushi Nagar, Bandlaguda. He noted that three civil cases and an injunction order were already in favor of the petitioner. The judge remarked on the disregard for court orders and the police’s interest in resolving civil disputes, noting a trend since the formation of Telangana State.

The Nagole SHO allegedly detained Sudershanam and pressured him to resolve the property issue with S Janga Reddy, Thurpati Krishna, and Thurpati Ramchander, who reportedly paid Rs. 55 lakh to sway the settlement. The judge urged the DGP to educate officers about handling civil disputes.

Justice Vinod Kumar heard the case filed by Sudharshanam, who accused the Nagole police of settling his property dispute for a fee. The hearing was postponed to the second week of July.

In another matter, the High Court bench of Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao reviewed six writ petitions by candidates excluded from the Group-1 Main exam ranking list. They requested a judicial investigation into the selection process.

Rachna, representing petitioners, argued that the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) issued two hall tickets, violating standard procedures. Candidates were instructed to download a second ticket, contrary to usual practices like those of UPSC.

On April 17, 2025, Justice Rao instructed TGPSC to withhold appointment orders for Group-1 candidates but allowed certificate verification. Petitioners’ lawyers sought a stay on the recruitment notification and a judicial investigation into alleged irregularities during the October 21 exam. The judge reviewed petitions filed by Parmesh Matta and others, and the hearing was deferred to Wednesday.
