Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has told welfare department staff to create a schedule for checking welfare hostels and residential schools, known as Gurukuls. He gave these instructions during a meeting on Tuesday at Praja Bhavan with Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar.
Each officer’s visit must be recorded with timely reports on what they checked. Visits should be ongoing, and ministers and local MLAs should join these inspections.
The Deputy CM emphasized the government’s focus on students by increasing diet charges by 40% and cosmetic charges by 200% soon after taking office. A menu, recommended by doctors, is ready, and he ordered that large banners showing this menu be placed in all hostels and Gurukuls.
He also asked officials to prepare reports on hostel facilities, especially those in rented buildings, detailing the building conditions and information about the landlords.
For the health card project, the Deputy CM urged district collectors and health officers to finish the work quickly. He noted that corporate hospitals are willing to provide free online medical services if any student gets sick and advised using these services. Additionally, he instructed planning for solar panel installations on all residential school buildings to meet their power needs. The meeting also reviewed the “Best Available Schools” scheme and the progress of “Centers of Excellence” in different societies.
