The Telangana High Court on Tuesday delivered a strong rebuke to Sandhya Convention organizer Sridhar Rao over illegal encroachments in the FCI Employees Cooperative Housing Society layout in Gachibowli. The court directed authorities to restore roads and parks that were allegedly encroached upon.
Justice Vijaysen Reddy took serious note of multiple constructions and road encroachments in the layout during the hearing. The layout spans 20 acres and contains up to 162 plots. The court warned that authorities would not remain idle if the majority of plots encroach on roads and parks with the sole intention of land grabbing.
The court acknowledged that HYDRA had recently removed road encroachments by Sandhya Sridhar Rao. The judge clarified that once a layout is established, it must be maintained according to approved plans without unauthorized alterations.
Sandhya Sridhar Rao had approached the High Court challenging HYDRA’s action. During Tuesday’s hearing, affected plot owners presented their grievances to the court. They complained that boundaries in the layout were being erased and unauthorized constructions were being carried out at will.
The affected parties alleged that Sandhya Sridhar Rao attempted to acquire more plots by buying excess land and intimidating other plot owners. They stated that she claims ownership of more plots than legally permitted and has undertaken constructions without regard for roads, adjacent plot boundaries, and parks.
The complainants further alleged that Sandhya Sridhar Rao not only attacked a female plot owner but also filed false cases against them. They informed the court that the Supreme Court had imposed a fine of Rs. 10 lakhs on Sandhya Sridhar Rao in a related matter.
The affected parties stated they were prevented from even viewing their own plots and lived in constant fear. They explained that when direct attacks occurred, they sought help from HYDRA. Officials responded immediately, conducted ground inspections, confirmed the road encroachments, and took action.
After hearing the complaints, Justice Vijaysen Reddy assured the affected plot owners that the High Court would stand by them as support. The court reiterated its directive to HYDRA to restore the roads and parks in the layout. The case has been adjourned to the 18th of this month for final hearing.
