The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has given the green light to significant Master Plan revisions aimed at expanding major roads across the city. The ambitious infrastructure initiative includes ten major road widening projects spanning various key locations in Hyderabad, designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the metropolitan area.

Among the most significant expansions is the PVNR Expressway stretch from Pillar 117 to Aramghar Crossroads, covering 7.12 kilometers. This arterial route will be widened from 45 meters to 60 meters, making it one of the largest road expansion projects in the current plan. The expressway serves as a crucial link for commuters traveling between different parts of the city and is expected to significantly reduce travel time once completed.

In the upscale Banjara Hills area, two important projects have been approved. The stretch from GVK Mall Junction to KBR Park Road (Road No. 14) will be widened to 24 meters over a distance of 1.19 kilometers. Additionally, the road from Priya Theatre to Ravindra Bharathi School, measuring 0.26 kilometers, will also be expanded to 24 meters in width to accommodate the growing traffic in this commercial and residential hub.

The technology corridor area will see major improvements with the widening of the route from HITEC City Junction to Madhapur Metro Station via Madhapur Police Station. This 2.58-kilometer stretch will be expanded to 36 meters, addressing the chronic traffic bottlenecks experienced by thousands of IT professionals and residents daily. Another significant project involves the Ranga Bhujanga Theatre to NH44 (Narsapur Road) section, spanning 3.48 kilometers, which will be widened to between 18 and 24 meters.

Several other strategic locations across the city will benefit from these infrastructure upgrades. The NH44 to Alwal Circle route along the HT Line will be widened to 24 meters over 0.45 kilometers. The Nallakunta Vegetable Market Road to Street No. 17 section, measuring 0.62 kilometers, will be expanded to between 15 and 24 meters. The Marwadi Law College to Sundarayya Park road will be widened to 24 meters across 1.79 kilometers.

In the central areas, the road from Himayatnagar Circle to Mahek Hotel (Old MLA Quarters) will be expanded to 30 meters over 0.56 kilometers. The Neredmet Crossroads Road, spanning 2.82 kilometers, will also be widened to 30 meters. These projects collectively represent a comprehensive effort by HMDA to modernize Hyderabad’s road infrastructure and prepare the city for future growth and increased vehicular traffic.
