GMR Hyderabad International Airport has installed a new system to help planes land safely in foggy weather. This system is called the Category II Instrument Landing System (ILS). It allows planes to land even when visibility is as low as 300 meters.

The new system is an improvement over the old one. It uses special radio signals and lights on the ground to guide pilots more accurately. The previous system required better visibility for safe landings.

In addition to this, the airport has received approval to upgrade its secondary runway. Once improved, it will allow landings when visibility is as low as 550 meters. This ensures that flights can continue smoothly even if the main runway is unavailable.
