Rajendranagar police have registered a case against a Tolichowki-based businessman after a video showing his 11-year-old son driving an MG Cyberster convertible luxury electric sports car on the Outer Ring Road went viral on social media. The incident has sparked concerns about road safety and parental responsibility in allowing minors to operate vehicles on public roads.
The viral video captured the minor driving an open-top MG Cyberster while his father sat in the passenger seat with his hand raised. The footage quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing widespread criticism and prompting immediate action from traffic authorities. The luxury electric sports car was being driven on the busy ORR, a major highway that connects various parts of Hyderabad.
According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, a complaint was received through social media regarding the minor driving the vehicle. The authorities at Shamshabad Outer Ring Road Traffic Police Station promptly verified the information and traced the vehicle. Both the car and the father of the minor were apprehended and subsequently handed over to Rajendranagar Cybercrime Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Legal action has been initiated against the businessman on multiple charges. The case includes violations for minor driving a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and disobedience of lawful orders. These offences carry serious penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act and are considered grave violations that endanger public safety on roads.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have issued a stern reminder to parents and guardians across the city. They emphasized that allowing minors to drive is a punishable offence that not only violates traffic laws but also puts innocent lives at risk. The authorities stressed that road safety begins at home and that handing over vehicle keys to underage children can result in serious legal consequences for parents and guardians.
Traffic police officials stated that such incidents demonstrate a concerning lack of awareness about traffic regulations and road safety among some citizens. They have urged all parents to exercise caution and responsibility, warning that strict action will be taken against those who allow minors to operate vehicles on public roads. The case serves as a warning to other parents who might consider allowing their underage children to drive vehicles.
