The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, has announced the extension of Hyderabad’s Metro Rail network to Medchal and Shamirpet. This New Year’s development was confirmed by NVS Reddy, the Managing Director of Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML). The Chief Minister has approved the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for two major corridors: Paradise to Medchal and JBS to Shamirpet.

The Paradise to Medchal corridor will span 23 kilometers, while the JBS to Shamirpet corridor will cover 22 kilometers. These extensions are part of the Metro Rail Phase-2 ‘B’ expansion plan. The DPRs will be prepared immediately and submitted to the Central Government for further approval.

NVS Reddy shared that this decision followed discussions with Dana Kishore, the Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department. The new Metro corridors aim to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and provide better access across Hyderabad.
