Hyderabad Police Chief says Ganesh immersions were peaceful

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand announced that the Ganesh immersion procession began at 6:30 AM on Saturday. Around 900 Ganesha idols are still waiting to be immersed. Today, 25,000 idols, including smaller ones, will be immersed. The entire event spans 40 hours.

Commissioner Anand mentioned that 12,034 idols were registered online, and 6,300 idols were immersed by yesterday. He added that about 120,000 idols have already been immersed in baby ponds and other water bodies across Hyderabad.

Overall, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported that approximately 140,000 Ganesh idols have been immersed within the Hyderabad Commissionerate. The police have worked tirelessly for two days to ensure everything goes smoothly. Commissioner Anand highlighted that the process finished early, thanks to the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Samiti members’ cooperation.

Strategic planning helped bring out the Ganesh idols sooner this year. Idols from the South Zone were prioritized for immersion due to law and order concerns in sensitive areas. Idols from other regions followed later, as explained by C.V. Anand.
