Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women hosted a special celebration for National Education Day on Monday. The event brought together the Bandaru Vaishnav Memorial Foundation and the college community in Hyderabad.
Dr V Anuradha, the college director, led the ceremony. Several distinguished guests joined the celebration to honor this important educational milestone.
Bandaru Dattatreya, who previously served as Governor of both Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, attended as a chief guest. Other notable attendees included Vijayalakshmi, who chairs the Vaishnav Memorial Foundation, and two former university leaders.
Prof D Ravinder Yadav, the former Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, participated alongside Prof Kolakanuri Enoch, who previously headed Sri Venkateswara University.
During his speech, Dattatreya explained the significance of this national observance. The day honors Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a visionary leader who believed education forms the backbone of any nation’s progress.
The former governor emphasized that true education must build more than knowledge. It should develop courage, strong values, and genuine patriotism in students. He also praised the forward-thinking approach of the National Education Policy 2020.
Vijayalakshmi shared her perspective on education’s broader impact. She described how quality learning creates responsible citizens who can drive meaningful change in society.
The foundation chairperson highlighted education’s role in sparking innovation and advancing technology. She noted these elements are essential for sustained economic growth across the nation.
She challenged students to think beyond textbooks and classrooms. Vijayalakshmi encouraged them to apply their education toward solving real-world problems that affect communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
