Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will start the Godavari Drinking Water Scheme Phases 2 and 3 on Monday. This is a major part of the Musi rejuvenation plan. The project aims to supply fresh water to the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs. It will cost ₹7,360 crore.

The state aims to finish the project in two years. It plans to move 20 TMC of water from the Mallanna Sagar reservoir. Out of this, 2.5 TMC will specifically help rejuvenate the Musi river. The remaining 17.5 TMC will meet Hyderabad’s drinking water needs and refill seven tanks along the path.

By December 2027, the initiative hopes to provide Hyderabad residents with daily tap water. The government will cover 40% of the project’s expenses, while the contractor will finance the other 60%.
