Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police in the Balanagar Division have retrieved 69 mobile phones worth Rs 15,26,000 using the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) Portal. These phones have been returned to their owners.
ACP Balanagar Naresh Reddy gave the phones back to their owners on Monday at the Jeedimetla Police Station.
Police data shows that 36 phones came from the Jeedimetla area, 23 from Sanathnagar, seven from Balanagar, and three from Jagadgirigutta.
Naresh Reddy stressed the importance of mobile phones for storing vital data and memories. He said that while thieves persist, police efforts are equally persistent. He pointed out that many don’t know how to stop stolen phones from being misused, urging the installation of CCTV cameras in neighborhoods for added safety.
The ACP encouraged people to report lost phones at local police stations or through the CEIR portal, which is available online across all regions. He noted that this portal helps stop misuse and aids in quick recovery.
