Authorities have taken a major step to tackle illegal construction by initiating legal action against six officials involved in granting permissions for building structures in ponds. The Cyberabad Financial Offenses Department has filed criminal cases after receiving a complaint from HYDRA, a local group dedicated to protecting the environment.

The officials who are facing charges include Nizampet Municipal Commissioner Ramakrishna, Chandanagar GHMC Deputy Commissioner Sudhams, Bachupally MRO Pool Singh, the Assistant Director of Land Records in Medchal Malkajgiri District, HMDA Assistant Planning Officer Sudhir Kumar, and HMDA City Plan Cyberabad CP Avinash.

Meanwhile, the demolition of unauthorized buildings is ongoing in Hyderabad. In the Rajendranagar constituency, officials have ramped up efforts to tear down illegal structures in the Gaganpahad area. Heavy machinery is being used to remove encroachments in the Appa Cheruvu Full Tank Level (FTL) zone, where a variety of illegal buildings, including a plastic warehouse, are being dismantled systematically.
