**Hyderabad:** On Friday, staff nurses took to the streets to protest alleged irregularities in their transfer process at Osmania Medical College. The protest led to a significant traffic jam at Koti.

The nurses gathered outside the auditorium of Osmania Medical College, claiming that their transfer postings were not in line with their preferences. They alleged that large sums of money had changed hands during the transfer period.

In response, authorities halted the counselling process. The frustrated nurses then moved to the office of the Director of Public Health (DPH) at Koti, where they continued their protest and raised slogans against the government. The flash protest caused a huge traffic jam in the area, and the nurses persisted with their demonstration even in the rain.

One staff nurse mentioned that officials had initially removed a spouse provision but later included it again. While doctors were given transfer options, the nurses were not and were being transferred arbitrarily. Another nurse shared her frustration, stating she had served 24 years in rural areas and six years in the city but was now being asked to transfer to Tandur despite having a spine fracture.

Some nurses also pointed out that the transfers were not conducted during the academic year. Now, with the academic year already started, they would have to relocate their children as well.
