**Hyderabad:** Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prepare a bill for the creation of Telangana Skills University. This bill will be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the state assembly. The goal of this university is to provide students with job opportunities through skills development training that meets industry needs. The government is ready to allocate sufficient funds for the establishment and maintenance of this university.

The Chief Minister, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, held a meeting at the Secretariat to discuss the proposed Skills University. The State Industries department studied skill universities in Delhi and Haryana to prepare a draft model. Special Chief Secretary to Industry, Jayesh Ranjan, gave a presentation on the university’s proposed courses, the duration of each course, infrastructure needs, funding requirements, and potential collaborations with companies. The university will be named ‘Telangana Skills University.’

The university will partner with private companies and operate as a self-sustaining non-profit organization. It will offer degree courses lasting three to four years, one-year diploma courses, and certificate courses lasting three to four months. The courses have been chosen based on the future needs of various rapidly developing sectors and industries in Telangana.

Seventeen priority sectors have been identified for the university’s training programs. Initially, training will be offered in fields such as Pharma, construction, banking finance services, e-commerce and logistics, retail, animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics. Each course will involve collaboration with a well-known company in the respective field, and the government will sign agreements with these companies. The university aims to train 2,000 people in its first year and expand its capacity to 20,000 people annually.

The Chief Minister and officials also discussed setting up regional campuses (satellite campuses) in district centers along with a main campus at Engineering Staff College in Hyderabad. However, the Chief Minister noted that students would likely prefer the Hyderabad campus over district centers. He instructed officials to provide training facilities in Hyderabad only and to ensure adequate infrastructure at the NAC campus and other locations. Officials were also asked to inspect the Swami Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute in Bhoodan Pochampally.

Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of focusing on sectors with high job demand and increasing seats in pharma due to the high demand for job opportunities in that field within the state. He directed officials to create plans that ensure job opportunities for students upon course completion.
