The Telangana government has announced the creation of the Young India Sports University in Hyderabad. This new university is aimed at improving the sports facilities in the state. The university will be part of the Sports Hub in the upcoming Future City, which is being developed to meet international standards.
There are plans to establish 12 sports academies within this Sports Hub. These academies will be equipped with advanced facilities, similar to those used in the Olympics. Additionally, the hub will include a science centre and a medicine centre to provide athletes with the best possible resources for their growth and development.
The new university, called “Young India Sports University,” is based on a model similar to the recently established Skill University in Telangana. Currently, two locations are being considered for the university: the sports school in Hakimpet and the sports complex in Gachibowli. The selected campus will be upgraded to meet Olympic-level standards, with the aim of making Telangana a leader in sports education and training.
Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, recently visited the Korea National Sports University (KNSU) during a trip to South Korea. He emphasized the importance of world-class training for athletes. The KNSU has a strong reputation, with 16 out of South Korea’s 32 medals at the recent Paris Olympics being won by athletes trained there. During his visit, the Chief Minister also honored Lim See-Hyeon, an archer who won three gold medals at the Olympics.
The Telangana government is eager to collaborate with KNSU. This partnership aims to use KNSU’s expertise to train future athletes at the Young India Sports University. The goal is to help Telangana athletes achieve success on the global stage, particularly in the Olympics.
