Hyderabad authorities have taken action against illegal encroachments on roads in Nizampet municipality. The Hyderabad Disaster Response Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) carried out an operation on Tuesday to clear blocked pathways, particularly in residential areas. This move aimed to ensure smoother transportation for the locals.

The action was taken after residents complained about obstructions on main roads leading to their neighbourhoods. These illegal encroachments were making it difficult for people to travel. In response, HYDRA removed the unauthorized structures, helping to ease traffic congestion in eight colonies of Nizampet.

On Tuesday, officials focused on clearing roads in Balaji Hills and Indiramma Colony, which fall under Ward No. 12 of Nizampet Municipality. It was found that some residents had extended apartment ramps onto the roads, built fences for plants that blocked pathways, and installed iron-framed stairs for upper floors. These encroachments were removed to free up space.

Residents of Indiramma Colony, Venkatraya Nagar, Balaji Colony, KNR Colony, and Kolanu Tulasi Reddy (KTR) Colony had raised concerns about traffic congestion caused by these roadblocks. Many vehicles, including school buses and emergency services, were facing difficulties, especially during peak hours. One of the major problem areas was the road from the Old Age Home to Miyapur Metro Station. HYDRA’s efforts resulted in clearing over a kilometre of road, providing much-needed relief to motorists.
