Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has approved a revised design for Package-I of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) Project, increasing its cost from ₹210 crore to ₹368 crore. The redesign aims to create a smoother, conflict-free traffic corridor between NFCL Junction and Allwyn Cross Roads, improving connectivity across one of Hyderabad’s busiest stretches.
The revised proposal ratifies the redesign already undertaken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) following updated traffic studies and technical reviews. The modifications are intended to address increasing traffic volumes and provide long-term solutions for congestion in the Banjara Hills corridor.
What Will Be Built Under Package-I?
The redesigned Package-I includes three major traffic infrastructure projects:
- A two-lane unidirectional flyover from Banjara Hills Road No. 3 towards GVK Mall at NFCL Junction, estimated to cost around ₹147 crore.
- A three-lane unidirectional flyover from Mugdha Junction towards NFCL Junction along Road No. 3, with an estimated cost of about ₹221 crore.
- A two-lane unidirectional underpass connecting NFCL Junction towards Srinagar Colony.
These structures are expected to significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks and improve travel times through the busy commercial and residential areas of Banjara Hills.
Wipro Junction Project Dropped
To accommodate the additional expenditure without increasing the overall allocation for the H-CITI project, the government has decided to drop the proposed ₹158-crore multi-level grade separator at Wipro Junction, which was part of Package-II.
The funds originally earmarked for the Wipro Junction project will now be diverted to finance the redesigned Package-I works.
Package-II to Continue with Other Works
Despite the removal of the Wipro Junction project, the remaining Package-II works will continue as planned. These include improvements at IIIT Junction, Khajaguda Junction, along with two road widening projects.
As a result of the changes, the cost of Package-II has been reduced from approximately ₹907 crore to ₹749 crore.
Structural Steel Flyovers Approved
The government has also approved the construction of the proposed flyovers using structural steel instead of the earlier design. Officials believe this approach will help speed up construction while reducing disruption to traffic during the execution of the project.
In addition, the official project location description has been revised from Jubilee Hills to Banjara Hills, wherever applicable, to better reflect the actual alignment of the infrastructure works.
GHMC Authorised to Invite Tenders
The State Government has authorised the GHMC to invite tenders for the revised Package-I works under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. The civic body is expected to begin the tendering process after completing the necessary administrative formalities.

The H-CITI project is one of Hyderabad’s flagship urban mobility initiatives aimed at easing congestion through strategically designed flyovers, underpasses and road improvements. With the redesigned Package-I focusing on the busy NFCL Junction corridor, officials expect the project to provide faster and safer travel for commuters while supporting Hyderabad’s growing traffic demands.
