A 40-year-old man was rescued after being trapped between a lift and a building wall in Moosapet’s Anjaneya Nagar on Sunday. HYDRAA teams conducted a nearly 1.5-hour rescue operation to free Murali, who suffered a leg fracture in the incident that occurred in a three-storey building.
The incident took place when Murali and his wife were using an old lift to reach the second floor from the ground level. As they arrived at the second floor, Murali attempted to step out of the lift. At that exact moment, someone on the third floor pressed the lift button, causing the lift to suddenly move upward. One of Murali’s legs remained inside the lift while the other was on the second floor, resulting in his leg becoming trapped in the lift grille. He was left hanging between the second and third floors as his wife, still inside the lift, immediately raised an alarm.
Residents of the apartment complex rushed to help after hearing the distress call. Despite their efforts, they were unable to free the trapped man. The residents then contacted the HYDRAA Control Room to report the emergency. The control room received the distress call at 9:15 am, and a HYDRAA Disaster Response Force (DRF) team from nearby Kukatpally reached the location by 9:30 am.
The rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of Marshal JDV Prasad. The team had to break open the lift wall to create access to the trapped man. Personnel from Sanathnagar Fire Station were also alerted and joined the rescue efforts. The fire department personnel used a hydraulic cutter as part of the operation to safely extract Murali from his precarious position.
After nearly 1.5 hours of coordinated rescue efforts, the team successfully pulled Murali out at exactly 10:50 am. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical examination revealed that Murali had suffered a leg fracture as his leg was crushed between the lift and the wall during the incident. Local residents expressed relief after the rescue team safely extracted him while providing support from below.
The rescue operation involved multiple personnel including Sanathnagar Fire Station staff and HYDRAA DRF members Marshal JDV Prasad, Errasani Anil Kumar, Jamma Ramesh, Veetha Ramesh and Pallikamitty Gopi, along with police constable Naresh. The swift response from the HYDRAA team, which reached the site within 15 minutes of receiving the call, was crucial in ensuring the successful rescue of the trapped man.
