Police have arrested Srinu for stealing a Panchaloha idol of Parvati Devi from a temple in Chinnamuddanuru village, Telkapalli Mandal. The theft occurred on the night of the 12th of this month when Srinu broke into the temple by breaking the iron grill and door lock.
Srinu, a resident of Telkapalli Mandal, stole the idol from the temple locker where idols from a nearby Shiva temple were kept after festivities. The president of the temple committee, Sundar Reddy, noticed the theft and reported it to the police.
During the investigation, the police found Srinu acting suspiciously in Telkapalli. They kept an eye on him and caught him red-handed while trying to sell the stolen idol. Srinu confessed to hiding the idol at his home and surrendered it to the police.
The court has remanded Srinu, and the case is currently under investigation.
