The 2024 ISSO National Games Basketball Tournament has started at CHIREC International School’s new campus in Serilingampally, Hyderabad. The tournament, running from 28th September to 2nd October 2024, brings together over 60 teams from across India. Boys and girls under the age of 14 and 19 are competing for the championship title in this exciting event.
The tournament was officially opened by Mr. Norman Issac, a World Technical Delegate and former Commissioner of FIBA. He shared his passion for basketball with the participants. Ms. Pushpa Senthilkumar, a national team player and a strong advocate for women’s basketball, also attended the event. She gave an inspiring speech to the young athletes, motivating them to do their best.
Ms. Sanchita Raha, Principal of CHIREC International, spoke during the event. She said that CHIREC is dedicated to providing an environment where sports are just as important as academics. She explained that their “Beyond Academics” initiative helps students build teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills through sports and other activities.
The new Serilingampally campus highlights this focus on sports with its impressive facilities. The campus features a 4.5-acre elevated sports deck, which includes five basketball courts, both indoor and outdoor, meeting global standards. These state-of-the-art facilities allow students to practice and develop their athletic abilities.
For the next few days, the grounds of CHIREC will be buzzing with young athletes showing off their skills and teamwork. The ISSO National Games at CHIREC aim to showcase the talents of India’s youth, while also reinforcing the school’s commitment to developing future leaders in both academics and sports.
