India made history at the men’s Boxing World Championships by winning three medals for the first time ever. Deepak Bhoria (51kg), Mohammed Hussamudin (57kg), and Nishant Dev (71kg) won their respective bouts on Wednesday, securing their places in the semifinals on May 12.

Hussamudin fought hard for a 4-3 split decision win against J Diaz Ibanez of Bulgaria. Meanwhile, Deepak defeated Nurzhigit Diushebaev of Kyrgyzstan by a 5-0 unanimous verdict, dominating the bout and forcing the referee to give Diushebaev two standing counts. Nishant Dev outpunched Jorge Cuellar Of Cuba by a 5-0 unanimous decision.

The three boxers have a high chance of changing the colors of their medals in the semifinal bouts. This achievement is a significant milestone for Indian men’s boxing, as they have never won three medals at a World Championship before.
