The Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) at 1 EME Centre for Military Station was dedicated by Poonam Manocha, Chairperson of the Family Welfare Organisation of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area. The ASTC provides various skill development courses certified by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to Indian Army families, including Veer Naris.
The project was quickly executed at the centre, with the creation of special infrastructure such as training aids, classrooms, an IT lab, and administrative facilities. This ensures seamless skill training for all learners.
Under PMKVY 4.0, the skill training initiative for families and Veer Naris of Secunderabad Military Station will begin at 1 EME Centre. The Indian Army and the Government of India will cover the training costs, and learners will receive NSDC certificates upon completing 300 hours of training.
This initiative aims to empower families and Veer Naris by providing self-reliance, financial independence, job opportunities in all sectors, and soft loans from banks to start their own businesses. IT soft skill training is also included.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Brigadier K Somashankar, Sena Medal, Station Commander and Deputy General Officer Commanding Telangana and Andhra Sub Area, along with other officers, JCOs, and families of Secunderabad Military Station. Brigadier Suresh G, Commandant of 1 EME Centre, emphasized that the government’s skill qualification program will enable Army families to become self-entrepreneurs and self-reliant.
