Indians in Sudan to be brought back through ‘Operation Kaveri’

India has launched ‘Operation Kaveri’ to bring back its citizens from Sudan following the power struggle between the regular army and a paramilitary force. The evacuation operation is underway, and about 500 nationals have reached Port Sudan. The government has positioned two transport aircraft of the IAF in Jeddah and naval ship INS Sumedha at Port Sudan. India is coordinating with various partner countries for the safe movement of those Indians who are stranded in Sudan and would like to be evacuated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had issued directions for preparation of contingency plans to evacuate Indians from Sudan.
