A woman in Kerala’s Alapuzha district gave birth at home and then left her newborn in a bucket in the bathroom before going to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, she informed the staff about the baby’s whereabouts. The hospital authorities immediately notified the police who rushed to the woman’s home and found the infant covered in a piece of fabric inside the bucket. The baby weighed only 1.3 kilograms and was urgently taken to a private hospital in Chengannur for medical care.
The police reported that the woman had arrived at the hospital in Chengannur with profuse bleeding and had informed the staff about leaving her newborn in a bucket at home. The police then contacted the Pathanamthitta Child Welfare Committee to ensure the safety and protection of the child. The baby was later transferred to Kottayam Medical College for additional care and treatment.
