Meta-owned Instagram has begun rolling out its new subscription service called Instagram Plus to users worldwide. The premium tier offers enhanced features for content creators and regular users who want more control over their stories and profile customization. According to early reports, the subscription could be priced as low as ₹99 per month in India, though official pricing details have not been confirmed by the company yet.
The Instagram Plus subscription introduces several exclusive features focused on story management and viewer insights. Users will gain access to Story Preview, which allows them to view stories without the pressure to react immediately. Another notable addition is Story Rewatch Insights, enabling creators to see how many times their stories were rewatched by viewers, providing valuable engagement metrics.
The new subscription tier also includes enhanced privacy and targeting options. Search Viewer List lets users quickly check if a specific person has viewed their story, while Multiple Story Audiences allows subscribers to create unlimited audience lists for precise story sharing. Additionally, Story Spotlight gives priority placement to stories among friends, and Story Extend increases story duration from the standard 24 hours to 48 hours.
Interactive features form another component of the premium package. Super Hearts enables users to send vibrant, animated hearts that burst across the screen when celebrating friends’ stories. This feature adds a more dynamic way to engage with content beyond the standard reaction options available to free users.
Profile customization options have been significantly expanded for Instagram Plus subscribers. Users can select from a Custom App Icon designed by Instagram and Instagram creators, and apply Custom Bio Font to match their personal style. The service also increases the limit of Profile Pins from three to six posts, allowing users to highlight more content on their profiles.
A unique feature called Post Directly to Profile allows subscribers to add content to their profile or highlights without it appearing in their friends’ feeds. This gives users more control over their content distribution and enables them to curate their profile grid without overwhelming followers with multiple posts.
The global rollout of Instagram Plus follows similar subscription models introduced by other social media platforms seeking to diversify revenue streams beyond advertising. The service targets power users, content creators, and individuals who want advanced analytics and customization options. Meta has not yet announced the official launch date for all regions or confirmed the final pricing structure across different countries.
