Hyderabad: Interim Relief Announced for Public Sector and Cooperative Employees

The State government of Telangana has announced good news for employees working in public sector enterprises, cooperative societies, and non-teaching staff of universities. On Friday, the government decided to extend Interim Relief (IR) to these employees as part of the pending revisions of pay scales, similar to what has been implemented for State government employees.

This decision came after the Telangana Public Sector Employee Federation formally requested the government to provide Interim Relief through a letter. Acting on this, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed officials to take the necessary steps. Following his directive, the government issued orders approving IR for various groups, including government employees, pensioners, local body employees (PR and ULBs), institutions receiving Grants-in-Aid, and work-charged employees under the revised pay scales of 2020.

The orders specify that regular employees of public sector undertakings, cooperative societies, and non-teaching staff in universities will now receive Interim Relief equal to 20 percent of their basic pay. This benefit is being provided in line with the relief extended to State government employees and pensioners. However, it is applicable only to employees of institutions that adopted the State’s revised pay scales in 2020.

This move is expected to bring financial relief to thousands of employees and ensure parity among government and public sector workers across the State.
