The Jubilee Hills Police have successfully apprehended two accused persons, including a woman, in connection with a major theft case involving stolen gold and silver ornaments from a residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The accused were caught while attempting to flee the city with the stolen property valued at several lakhs of rupees.
The theft was reported on 21st January 2026 by the residents of a house in Jubilee Hills. The complainants discovered that 429 grams of gold jewellery had gone missing from their home. Since there were no signs of forced entry or break-in, suspicion immediately fell on the domestic help employed at the residence.
Acting on credible intelligence and tip-offs, the police conducted a coordinated operation and arrested the accused on 30th January 2026 near Sri Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda. The duo was intercepted just as they were preparing to flee to Visakhapatnam with the stolen items, intending to dispose of them in another city.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Juttuka Durga Bhavani (A-1) and Juttuka Papa Rao (A-2). Police investigations revealed that both accused are relatives who conspired together to commit the theft. Their primary motive was to sell the stolen gold ornaments to gain quick money for their financial needs.
During the course of the investigation and recovery operation, police successfully retrieved 178.32 grams of gold ornaments and 121 grams of silver ornaments from the accused. Additionally, officers recovered net cash amounting to ₹5,00,000 that was believed to be proceeds from the sale of some stolen items. Police also identified bank accounts where additional money from the crime had been deposited.
However, the investigation revealed that some of the stolen gold ornaments had already been pledged at private gold loan companies by the accused. The police are currently working to trace and recover these remaining items from various financial establishments where they were pawned.
A formal case has been registered under Cr. No. 38/2026 at Jubilee Hills Police Station invoking Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and trace the complete trail of the stolen property. Both accused are currently in police custody and being interrogated for further details.
In light of this incident, the Jubilee Hills Police have issued an advisory to the public, urging residents to verify domestic help through proper channels and authorized agencies before employing them. The police have also requested citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities or behaviour by household staff to the nearest police station to prevent such offences in the future.
