Hyderabad: Minister for Excise and Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao challenged former irrigation minister T Harish Rao to a debate on farmers’ issues. He said that BRS leaders shouldn’t speak about farmers’ problems and challenged Harish Rao to discuss the performance of their governments.
Jupally, along with party MLAs Kasireddy Narayana Reddy and E Shankar, spoke to the media at Gandhi Bhavan. He asked Harish Rao to choose a time and date for the debate. Jupally criticized the previous BRS government for not helping families of the 6,000 rioters who committed suicide during their time in power.
The Minister argued that the current water shortage in the State was due to low rainfall last year, not the policies of the present government. He questioned why the previous government didn’t maintain enough water in reservoirs, allowing Andhra Pradesh to take Krishna river water.
