The ruling BRS party in Hyderabad is hoping to repeat its success in the 2018 Assembly polls by defeating senior Congress and BJP leaders once again. BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is strategizing to ensure victory in these seats and has been conducting regular surveys. The party believes it has better chances of winning against these opposition leaders.

While the BRS, Congress, and BJP are expected to engage in a triangular fight in Greater Hyderabad, KCR is mainly focused on the Assembly segments of senior opposition leaders in other districts. However, survey reports suggest that this time it won’t be as easy for the BRS, as they are facing anti-incumbency and the Congress has gained ground.

KCR is closely monitoring the activities of rival parties and has instructed his party leaders to poach close aides of senior Congress and BJP leaders. Around 30 leaders from both parties are being targeted by the BRS to weaken their winning prospects. Venkat Reddy, a close aide of BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, has already joined the BRS.
