Hyderabad: The BRS suspended MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday.
This decision came after lengthy discussions at party president K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse on Monday. The meeting extended late into the night with key figures like KT Rama Rao, S Madhusudhana Chari, G Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy in attendance. Party leaders mentioned that the BRS chief was displeased with Kavitha’s comments about senior leader T Harish Rao during a press briefing. The chief believed her remarks were ill-timed, especially as the government accused the party of corruption related to the Kaleshwaram project, according to a senior leader.
Upon returning from the USA, Kavitha held a press conference. She blamed senior leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh for corruption and related CBI cases against KCR. She described Harish Rao and Santosh as entities of corruption.
Insiders revealed that some party leaders suggested a show cause notice for Kavitha. However, KCR opted for a more decisive action to prevent similar incidents from other members.
