Union Minister Kishan Reddy honored Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary by placing flowers at his statue in front of Nizam’s College Grounds in Hyderabad. Babu Jagjivan Ram, who came from the Dalit community, served the country at a high level. He stood against the Congress government in 1977 and joined the Janata Party to fight against dictatorial policies that stripped democracy and freedom of the press. Alongside other leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan, Morarji Desai, and Vajpayee, he played a crucial role in bringing the Janata Party to power.

During the emergency declared by the Congress government, Jagjivan Ram played a significant role in uniting democratic forces. He was instrumental in fighting against the suppression of people’s rights, freedom of the press, and the unjust killings that occurred during that time.
