Hyderabad: Students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KL Deemed to be University have secured top positions at the IndiaSkills Competitions 2025, bringing laurels to the institution through their exceptional performance in advanced manufacturing technologies.

B. Harshith Singh, a student from the university, won First Place in the Additive Manufacturing skill category at the IndiaSkills 2025 State-Level Competition. His victory has earned him qualification for the Zonal Level, where he will represent Telangana in the upcoming rounds.

The competition, organised by the Department of Employment and Training, Government of Telangana, tested participants on multiple technical parameters including CAD modelling, mechanism design, and complete additive manufacturing workflows. The event assessed the students’ technical proficiency and innovative capabilities in real-world applications.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering witnessed further success as two more students excelled at the AP State-Level IndiaSkills Competitions 2025-26. Mr. N. Sai Ananth secured the Gold Medal, while Ms. K. Eesha claimed the Silver Medal in the Additive Manufacturing category.

These competitions were conducted by the State Skill Development Corporation and the National Skill Development Corporation, Government of India. Only a limited number of candidates were shortlisted at the state level, highlighting the competitive nature of the event.

The competition structure involved multiple stages, starting from the district level and progressing to the state level. Participants faced challenges that required them to design and fabricate complex mechanical components using industry-standard CAD tools and 3D printing technologies. The tasks evaluated precision, time management, and practical application of advanced manufacturing principles.

The IndiaSkills Competitions, organised under the WorldSkills framework, aim to elevate the status of skilled trades and inspire youth to pursue vocational and technical careers. The initiative promotes world-class standards, drives innovation in education, and fosters global collaboration.
