    Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Punjab Kings by five wickets in a thrilling match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. KKR’s skipper Nitish Rana scored 51 runs off 38 balls, while Andre Russell (42) and Rinku Singh (21 not out) played well towards the end of the match. KKR chased down the target of 180 runs to win the match.

    KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy took three wickets for 26 runs, but Punjab Kings still managed to score 179/7 with skipper Shikhar Dhawan scoring 57 runs. Dhawan was involved in a 53-run partnership with Jitesh Sharma (21) before later-order batters set a competitive total.

    KKR’s Russell played a pivotal role in the game, hitting three sixes in Sam Curran’s 19th over to bring his team closer to the target. Rinku then hit a four off the last ball of the innings to signal KKR’s victory.

    In the IPL Points Table, Gujarat Titans maintained the top spot, with Faf du Plessis leading the Orange Cap standings and Mohammed Shami leading in Purple Cap standings.

    The match took place at Eden Gardens on May 8, 2023, and Kolkata’s weather report showed no signs of rain, but there were concerns that Cyclone Mocha could washout the match.
